Masonry Fireplace

Traditional brick or masonry fireplace with masonry or heavy gauge metal liner or ULC-listed fireplaces with a minimum burn area of 0.258m*2 (sq. meters). When using a ULC - listed fireplace, leave the door open and place a metal mesh screen in front of the fire to prevent embers or hot particulates from escaping during the burn. Pine Mountain and Java-Log firelogs are suitable to burn in traditional fireplaces.

 

Manufactured Fireplace

Most fireplace manufactures approve their appliance for UL- Classified solid fuels, including Pine Mountain firelogs and Java-Log firelogs. When using a ULC - listed fireplace, leave the door open and place a metal mesh screen in front of the fire to prevent embers or hot particulates from escaping during the burn. Check the UL- Certification for your specific appliance to be certain manufactured firelogs can be safely burned in your unit.

 

Wood Burning Stove

  • Pine Mountain firelogs have not been tested for use in a wood-burning stove or air-tight stove, including Vermont Castings; therefore, we cannot guarantee the performance or safety of our manufactured firelogs if our usage instructions are not followed.
  • Java-Log firelogs are designated for use in wood-burning stoves.

NOTE: ExtremeStart burns hotter than conventional fire starting products; therefore, they are not intended for use in a closed or sealed wood-burning or pellet stove. 

 

Pellet Stove

  • Pine Mountain traditional and specialty firelogs are not intended for use in pellet stoves.
  • StarterStikk Fatwood Firestarters can be used in fireplaces, pellet stoves, and campfires.
  • ExtremeStart is not tested or endorsed for use in a pellet stove.

NOTE: ExtremeStart burns hotter than conventional fire starting products; therefore, they are not intended for use in a closed or sealed wood-burning or pellet stove.

 

Outdoor Fireplace and Fire Pit

NOTE: Comply with all local regulations for building a fire out-of-doors.

  • Pine Mountain firelogs are suitable to burn in non-airtight outdoor appliances like a fireplace or fire pit.
  • ExtremeStart Firestarter is intended for use in any open appliance such as a traditional brick fireplace or heavy gauge metal-lined masonry fireplace, chiminea, fire pit, wood or charcoal grill, or smoker.

Chiminea

Only the Pine Mountain 2-hour firelog is suitable to burn in a Chiminea.

NOTE: Longer burning Pine Mountain firelogs burn at a higher BTU that is too extreme to be safely burned in a Chiminea.
